May Fundraising Update and Another Matching Gift Challenge for June!
The Friends of the Community Growing Center's Fundraising Committee is delighted to report that as of May 31, our fundraising totals for the month were a whopping $868––PLUS the $500 gift that the month's campaign was meant to match. Thank you to all of our generous friends and supporters who made contributions! And congratulations to Kristin Gilbert, our lucky winner of the Taza Chocolate Gift Box raffle prize. For the month of June, a wonderful donor and former Friends board member has come forward with yet another generous $500 gift. We at the Growing Center are striving once again to match this gift. A gift in any amount would go a long way––even if it's just $5, $10, or $15! Please consider giving, or simply sharing this message with friends. This month, we have a very special raffle prize drawing––a half-pint of authentic Somerville-made maple syrup from the Growing Center's Maple Boil back in March! You could win this cool giveaway with a gift in any amount.
The Growing Center continues to use our precious quarter-acre green space primarily for urban agriculture––the work of our small group of garden volunteers is in full swing with a host of nutrient-rich veggies in the ground. You may have seen on Facebook that we have already brought some Growing Center grown produce to St. Patrick's Women's Shelter in Union Square and hope to continue this outreach throughout the season with area food security partners as harvests come in. Funds raised through this Matching Challenge effort will support ongoing coordination of these efforts.
If you're able to donate any amount toward our June fundraising effort, it would be greatly appreciated. And as always, please share your love for the Somerville Community Growing Center with friends, family, and your social media networks in Somerville, Cambridge, and beyond. Thank you so much for your dedication! To make a donation, please go here to learn more.
