The Growing Center is not a community garden in the traditional sense. We follow a different model. There are no plots assigned to individuals for their own use; we have gardening space, which volunteers tend. We also offer dozens of free events every year to the general public, and need LOTS of help putting them on - where volunteers shine!

2. Jump in! Take a Volunteer Orientation.
Volunteer Orientations take place twice monthly. See the 2026 schedule. They run through late fall and take place at the Growing Center, 22 Vinal Ave, Somerville. You do not need to sign up in advance.
