The garden is a special place in all seasons that gives young children, youth and teens an opportunity to interact, connect and foster a relationship with land and nature in the city through hands-on experiential learning. This spring the Growing Center hosted twelve field field trips for students ages 3-17 from Somerville High School, local preschools, area elementary schools and scout groups.

The Growing Center's Children in Nature Initiative is based on partnerships. These partnerships support and create opportunities for kids and youth to spend time outdoors playing and learning in city green spaces like the Growing Center.
