Gabion Wall Update

After a few sessions of volunteer support from YouthBuild USA, Groundwork Somerville and dedicated SCGC volunteers (a shout out to Andy Avila for moving big rocks to safety!), the gabion cages are assembled and filled. Terra Cura is finalizing product details for the bench material above the gabion wall -- black locust --- a highly durable, rot resistant native wood species, a truly sustainable alternate compared to typical decking material such as Cedar and Ipe, which are tropical rainforest hardwood. Construction for bench framing support is scheduled to be on July 15th. The final bench installation will take place by beginning August.
