The Growing Center is back in time for summer!

Image of people gathered while the ribbon-cutting takes place.

The Somerville Community Growing Center celebrated its re-opening last Saturday morning with a delightful gathering of friends, neighbors, and volunteers.

Special thanks to Mayor Joseph Curtatone, City Councilors Ben Ewen-Campen, Stephanie Hirsch, William Mbah, Community Preservation Committee Chair Michael Fager, Arn Franzen from the Somerville Parks Department, and our entire community of volunteers and supporters who sustain the Growing Center!

The first stage of the renovation was made possible with support from the residents of Somerville through the city’s Community Preservation Act funds. The Friends of the Growing Center look forward to raising more funds to restore many of the plants that had to be cleared during the renovation process.

For twenty-five years, people have come to enjoy a variety of events and nature-based programs in this little oasis near Union Square. The work being done now will help us on our way for the next twenty-five!
