Seasonal Part-Time Garden Educator, Somerville Community Growing Center
The Somerville Community Growing Center is a 27-year-old community garden space run primarily by volunteers; it is a space for gathering, learning, and celebrating. Its long history includes building local community through coordinating ecological and multicultural educational programs and events.
Through a grant the YMCA received for summer 2021, which the Growing Center supported, the garden will host children/youth who attend the YMCA and PHA/YMCA summer camp one day a week.
Through a connection to Land, STEM, and experiential learning, we hope to provide a focus on equity and create learning opportunities that are steeped in creativity, kindness, and empathy.
