Wreath Sale Fundraiser

It is that time of year again to put in your wreath order with the Somerville Community Growing Center! In addition to our wreaths being a beautiful, hand-decorated wreath, your purchase helps support programming and maintenance at the Growing Center. With that said, we would like to say how greatly appreciative we are for your support and community love. Wreaths will be available for pick-up at the Winter Farmers Market at the Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Ave) on Saturday, December 3, 10:00am-1:00pm. Wreath orders received before 11/28 are $35, after 11/28 wreaths are $40. Please pay when you pick-up. Cash or checks (made payable to the Friends of the Community Growing Center) accepte

The Dragonflies: Farm-Learn-Play

Join the Dragonflies: Farm-Learn-Play on Mondays from 2:45-4:45 pm. This is for kids ages 10-13 with an adult partner (younger siblings welcome). Young farmers of all skill levels are invited to join us in the garden to plant, water, weed, harvest, and play. We are growing for learning and fun, with a focus on saving seeds. Play dates are as follows: October 3, 17, 31 (not October 10) November 14, 21, 28 December 5, 12, 19

Annual Potluck Meeting

It is that time of year for the Annual Meeting and Celebration of our Volunteers! It will be held on Sunday, October 23rd from 12pm - 2pm at Aeronaut Brewery (14 Tyler Street). Come learn more about the Somerville Community Growing Center's plan for the upcoming growing season including volunteer opportunities, upcoming programs, updates with the new redesign, site management updates (including compost and watering, work days) and more! Volunteer Spotlight: Mark Chenevert

1. Who are you and and how did you first learn about the Growing Center? Have actually done a few events at the Growing Center over the years (I play music with various people),, and have recently rediscovered it through a friend who is also a volunteer , Delphine Gabbay . The impetus to volunteer came about recently as I am now semi - retired and so have extra time . 2. Where is your favorite place to escape to in the Somerville / greater Boston area? Favorite places to " escape " and get into the woods are the Sheepfold area of the Fells park lands and the Blue Hills Reservation. 3. What is your favorite vegetable?
