What a wonderful Earth Day weekend! A big thank you to our fabulous volunteers - new and seasoned - who lended a hand giving some TLC to the garden! Earth Day Celebration!

Join the Somerville Community Growing Center in celebrating Earth Day! Outdoor films on Friday and picnic fun on Sunday. Details below. Seed Sale Fundraiser a Success!

Thank you to everyone who made their High Mowing Organic Seed sale order with us! This purchase helps support the Somerville Community Growing Center while helping to create a healthier community by growing delicious veggies and flowers. We are happy to say that we raised nearly $500 from this fundraiser! What a great way to build community and help foster a healthy, local growing ecosystem! If you have not picked up your seeds yet, please contact Erica Jones to make arrangements. Most people have the option of picking them up from SCATV at an alternative date.

How to Compost 101

The Growing Center has a handful of Earth Machine composters available for residents to drop off their scraps. The composters are located in the far left corner of the site. Most organic matter can be composted. We ask that residents do NOT put the following items in our composters: dairy meat compostable plastics While these items can be composted at a larger facility, they will not do very well in our earth machines. We have just a few rules established to keep our compost bins healthy. Find the Earth Machine labeled "Active compost". This is the bin you will want to use.
