The Somerville Community Growing Center remains committed to its mission of building local community through ecological and multicultural educational programs and events.

While we are currently unable to host public events at the Growing Center, we are pleased to continue our programming by sharing it with you online. We will be posting virtual tours, online music, wellness, and garden videos, and more!

Wellness in the Garden

Being in Nature: Mindfulness for Children: Please join us on Sunday, March 14, at 3 pm for a 30-minute program taught by Zeenat Potia, which will explore a family practice of mindfulness, geared for children (ages 4-10) and their caregivers. To learn more about the session, follow this link.

The River of Life Activity with Cathy Haines: If your life were a river, what shape would it take? The River of Life exercise is designed to help you reflect and discover where you’ve come from. Join us for another learning opportunity on Sunday, Feb. 21, featuring a guided River of Life activity with Cathy Haines. Go here to learn more.

Nature and Mental Health with Andi Dickmeyer: Join Andi and the Growing Center's Lisa Brukilacchio for this Zoom event on Sunday, January 10, to learn and discuss topics on mental wellness and nature. Learn more here.

Qigong with Martha Oesch: The Growing Center is delighted to welcome back Martha for two virtual Qigong sessions that were filmed at the garden. Qigong is a centuries-old practice, with roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, of coordinated movement, posture, breathing, and meditation. Go here to enjoy Martha's sessions.

Garden Music Series

440 and Tomoko Iwamoto: Gypsy jazz ensemble 440 shared a collection of their original compositions at the Somerville Community Growing Center over the summer, and we're claiming Valentine's Day as the perfect mid-winter moment to share them! Enjoy them here and travel back to summer with us!

Receita de Samba: Growing Center favorites, Anna Borges and Bill Ward, return to the garden and bring us classics of Brazilian samba! Please go here to listen to the gorgeous set they played for us while the flowers were in full bloom!

Music with Maura Mendoza: Maura brings a mini-concert to the Growing Center with an original song she wrote, entitled "Growing at the Growing Center." Go here to enjoy!

Virtual Storytime

Storytime with Mango and Marigold Press: Sailaja Joshi of Mango and Marigold Press joined us in the garden for a delightful reading of two wonderful children's books.
