Each season brings exciting new events as well as the return of annual programs to the Growing Center. From after-school garden programs in the spring and fall to concerts and musical plays through the summer, below is a sampling of what's going on at the Growing Center all year long. All events are free (with the exception of occassional requests for donations)!


Spring Garden Day- Seed/plant exchange & Maypole dancing, garden tours
After School Garden Program
• Full Moon Labyrinth Walks- Spring, Summer & Fall every full moon!


Open Garden- Every Saturday morning 9AM-12 PM May to October
• Recreational Gardening- Monday, Wednesday & Friday 3-5PM with the Walnut Street Center
• BASEA Solar Day- Boston Area Solar Energy Association provides demos of renewable energy technologies at the summer solstice
• Art in the Garden- Summer art and recreation program offered by the Somerville Arts Council
• Somerville Summer Theater Project- Musical plays, past years have included The Secret Garden and Alice in Wonderland
• Stonescape Painting and Storytelling for Adults
• Summer Gardening classes
• Musical Concert, Art Exhibitions, and Dance Performances


• Spirits of the Garden and Fairy Night- Celebrate the magic of the garden
• Harvest Fair- End of season finale with pumpkins, games and harvesting
• Grape and Apple Pressing- Make juice with the grapes and apples harvested in the garden
• After School Garden Program



• Wreath Decorating Fundraiser with Walnut Street Center
• Maple Syrup Project- Tapping maple trees throughout Somerville
