Children’s Play Groups
The Growing Center playgroups are managed by volunteers and happen on some Tuesday Fridays from June to September. They provides an extended period of time for kids 0–5 to have unstructured play in a non-manicured green space. Please monitor our calendar and social media for updates.
Started in 2010, this program is designed to increase the opportunities for children to have a direct learning experience in nature, while at the same time beginning to access the rich cultural diversity of Somerville, MA.
Urban Agriculture Skill-Building Workshops
In response to interest expressed by residents, these workshops cover topics such as composting, container gardening, mushrooms & mycelium, hops & vines, bee keeping, and sustainable urban living.
Our most recent program, the Pollinator Project––organized by Earthwise Aware––trains citizen scientists to survey and track data on local plant and pollinator biodiversity in order to support conservation research and broaden appreciation and understanding of science and nature within our communities.
