The Growing Center needs volunteers! The Growing Center is run by a volunteer organization called The Friends of the Community Growing Center. Would you like to help out? All you have to do is attend a volunteer orientation. The orientation usually lasts for an hour or so, depending on the number of questions. Cost: There is a sliding scale fee of $30.00 per student for the week.
Registration: Registration is required.
Location: Drop off and pick up will be at the Cummings School (42 Prescott Street, Somerville); Program is based at the Growing Center.
Description: Come play, cook, dance, dig, plant, meet new friends and have fun in the garden! This program, presented by Groundwork Somerville and the Growing Center, will focus on environmental education, physical activity, and the preparation of nutritious foods. On Thursday, there will be a field trip to Gaining Ground’s vegetable farm in Concord, Massachusetts.

Growing Center Volunteer Open House & Annual Meeting
Volunteer Open House from 6-8 pm; Annual Meeting at 8 pm
Location: Somerville Public Library, 79 Highland Avenue, Somerville
At our Volunteer Open House, come and learn about volunteer opportunities, sign up for volunteer teams and committees and meet others with similar interests. We have a number of volunteer teams and committees that need leadership and members, including Archives Team, Children and Nature Team, Compost Caretaker Team, Event Support Team, Farmers Market Team, Open Garden Saturday Team, Playgroup Team, Publicity and Outreach Team, Watering Angels Team, Work Day Leadership Team, Board of Directors, Fundraising Committee, Master Planning Committee, Program Planning Committee.
The FCGC Annual Meeting will take place immediately following the Open House.
This event is for anyone who is interested in volunteering at the Growing Center and current FCGC members.
